Underoath guitarist Tim McTague has a few choice words about Avenged Sevenfold.
Metal Hammer was out in Austria and Italy with US metallers Underoath. Here is an excerpt from our chat with guitarist, Tim McTague, about how the band may be teetering on the edge of sounding like a crossover band - more mainstream than they feel.
“What’s popular, to a degree, is what pushed me to find something that isn’t popular for Underoath. Chiodos or Escape The Fate who do kind of the same thing – screaming and singing and whatever – do it their way, so we’re like, ‘let’s do it completely the opposite’ because we don’t want to be associated with them. It’s not about ‘the thing’ it’s the approach to the thing that’s important.
“People might associate us with Avenged Sevenfold because they’re pissed republicans and ‘so metal’, but they’re a gimmick, they’re a circus. They can’t play and they can’t write a song. What’s worse is the way they look. If you need to have make-up and crappy names like Synyster Gates to sell records, then you shouldn’t be here. That’s not rock’n’roll to me. Arena rock maybe, but not real rock’n’roll. If you’re basing yourself on how cool you are or how many girls you can trick into thinking your band is cool you can just… take that home. I’m not saying that’s what Avenged Sevenfold do, but they do a lot of crap that makes me think, ‘that’s why you and us will never be the same’. At the same time, we don’t write a really heavy record ‘just to show all those Avenged Sevenfold fans what real metal is like’

Went sheesha with kyle after my Itp at bugis (: NO FUN AT ALL~ we ordered strawberry favour one and i don't like lol. Then after that we had prata and i went out to meet kenneth for ladies night while kyle went home,lol. Chao spoiler~
Waited for ken till i du lan and he make me sibei shy la. He came with florence, florence's friend1 and florence's friend2 (aha forget their name, lol), but after clubbing like not so shy liao xD Crazy crazy night.
Okay sad, no more ladies night :) 2 more days to end of itp, oh i can hear mx laughing ~

Oh well :) Guess it's time to start blogging again uh assholes. Actually i planned to start blogging when school reopen but something nice and sweet just happened on Youtube so i guess the mood is back yea!

"Me and eden roughly guessed who're you luh but we're not sure so i shall name you Mr Cute. Dear Mr Cute you see we're always together so what you mean "will we be back tgt again uh!". Just that things are slightly different now as we're got our own things to do, our own lives to lead blah blah shit, but it would be great isn't it if things doesn't change for us. Those time when we're still in Wdl, meeting up in school like everyday, playing basketball, copying homeworks, doing those childish shits in school, sitting together at that canteen with those crap cheap canteen foods, running 2.4 together, went out to causeway after school, playing c.o2, and remember the mass pon we did during sec4?, getting scolded by almost every teacher and alot alot more. Okay the point is things are not as bad as you think i guess? We're not falling apart or something, no no! (: Just that we don't meet up often now(actually no, we still meet up often, ya those staying at woodlands), we're still the same when we met, we're not like stranger, we still talk alot, ya somethings it's like we're soo close that we don't even feel like talking and it don't feel awkward at all. So ya relax, we're still the same. Same as in the friendship is still the same, of course most of us changed(as in personality, looks blah) over these few years. But aren't friends suppose to withness each other changes? And we compare and contrust each other changes. Gotta be true to you, sometimes i also think that toml is falling apart but after every meeting ups or something, they just prove me wrong. So don't assume that not meeting up often means we're falling apart k my dear but still i appreciate your comment!. WE'RE STILL THE SAME (:"
Okay think i should left this cute toml behind nw. Ya so what with this long break of not blogging uh? Over these non-blogging weeks
1) I studied for exams.
2) Then after exams it's attachment.
3) We celebrated yanzhi, kenneth and junrong's birthdays.
4) I'm like going to st james and zouk almost every week ever since exams ended.
5) Ya i've made some video of myself covering songs on youtube.
Ya for 1) i gotta say my result sucks la! I only got 3.1 gpa for year2 sem2 and my overall gpa drop from 3.5 to 3.4. Fuggg~
Ya see! Only one A my godness :( The result of last minute work and pon-ing most of the lecture
Okay for 2) It's attachment. I gotta tell you my attachment at tht stupid company sucks la! It's at Balestier Road you see, i need to take train to novena every mon-fri then take bus 131/21 to tht place! Fucking wu lu la! But i've nice friends there, but the males are all DOTA freaks. Daniel, Melvin, Yuqin, Roddrick and Vivian (; And daniel reminds me of yijing.

Overall, we just planned with his secondary school friends and we pour flour,egg,milk tea and dao suan over him outside O.G :) The si ma lu there, haha! Ya the cops came and said "Happy birthday uh, so who's gna clear the mess" We jus laughed ourselves away~ Boo cops.

Ya and my weekly grade for attachment is B,B,B,B,B,C. Tmr is the start of the FINAL week of attachment! After this week i'm not going back to wulu Balestier Road.
